United states of America is the world's largest sports market and it has its own world class cricket T20 league - Major League Cricket (MLC) Major League Cricket focuses on bringing world class T20 cricket league closer to the american fans, create a pathway for domestic cricketers to play at the highest level and showcase thier talent to a global audience.
USA Cricket
What started in November 2018 with a public invitation to build a world class T20 league by USA Cricket is getting closer to reality with major league cricket starting in the summer of 2023. As part of the process American Cricket Enterprises (ACE) was selected as its strategic partner and a long-term agreement has been signed that will result in over $1 billion invested in to the development of cricket domestically. ACE is backed by Sameer Mehta and Vijay Srinivasan, the founders of Willow TV, the largest cricket broadcaster in North America, and Satyan Gajwani and Vineet Jain, the principals of The Times of India Group, India's largest media conglomerate.
Teams in MLC
So far 6 teams from major metropolitan areas representing Dallas, San Fransisco, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Seattle and New York City have been finalised. Team names, venues, schedules and further details will be announced in early 2023. Each team will be a mix of multiple global stars alongside the best talent from the United States. The season will span over 19 matches played over 18 days with the special inaugaral ceremony to take place at Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas and the first MLC match to take place on July 13 2023 at the Dallas Metroplex.
Investors
MLC's investors group features some of the most respected business leaders and industrialists. MLC has announced it has completed an initial close of $44 million Series A and A1 round led by a group of america's successful business leaders. Talent development pathway
A clear player talent development pathway has been identified with leagues like Minor League Cricket to find and retain talent, and MLC academies across the country to develop the next generation of American cricket superstars. What we are interested is to see how USA Cricket, MLC use technology for player development, coach certification and talent identification.
